Prepare for competency based interview questions when attending an interview. Competency based questions start with the following: Can you give me an example, tell me about a time when? To prevent long-drawn out answers follow this simple technique called ‘STAR’. This technique is a logical process to maintain structure when answering a question. S or T: situation or task. Inform the interviewer in detail the situation or task. A: Action. Describe the action you took along with the relevant processes taken. R: Result. This is the important part, make sure the interviewer understands that from the competent actions taken a good result/outcome was achieved!
